Working with us
Becoming a Producer
As the demand for free-range eggs continues to grow Noble will be requiring more producers. The vast majority of our suppliers have been supplying Noble for many years.
If you are interested in becoming a new egg producer, Noble can provide you with advice and assistance in the planning for your unit, making sure the buildings are built in the best location for the birds etc. Ideally, purpose-built free-range units would be used, but converting a conventional agricultural building is also possible.
Noble will also arrange for DEFRA, Freedom Food and the BEIC Lion Code of Practice to assess, certify and approve your unit for free-range production.
Noble work with suppliers and retailers to ensure that the highest welfare and hygiene standards are reached. We also work closely with our producers to make sure the eggs are produced to the highest of standards; this is to ensure that we retain our high level of business with the majority of the leading supermarkets.
Land & Flock Size
Freedom Food and the Lion Code of Practice stipulate a maximum stocking rate of 1,000 birds per hectare (400 per acre), and the land must be within 350m of the poultry house. The land must also be down to grass or similar vegetationas arable crops are not permitted. (although dual grazing with other livestock is allowed).
Noble are also happy to advise you on the strengths and weaknesses of each breed of hen.
We are continually conducting research and trials on our own farms to improve bird welfare and performance, this in turn supports our producers as we are able to provide advice on the best possible means of egg production.
Noble will always strive to pay producers a fair price for their eggs. We work within a very competitive market and aim to give steady, consistent returns rather than reacting to short-term changes in the market conditions.
