Double Success at the British Egg Awards!
Last night, 22nd March 2007, Deans celebrated a double success at the British Egg Awards with Regional Eggs scooping the prestigious Egg Marketing Campaign Award and Brambles Sandwiches celebrating the Egg Products Award.
The Marketing award seeks to champion those who have made a significant contribution to the Lion mark. As the winner of the category, our Regional brands demonstrated effective planning, innovation, flair and management in engaging the local community and attracting a new younger audience (school children).
In 2006 we introduced six regional egg brands (Homestead, Lincolnshire, Midlands, West Country, Yorkshire and Welsh) into major retailers. With an objective of "Engaging and interacting with the local community."
At the heart of the campaign is a traceability website. Each region has a dedicated website e.g. MyWestCountryEggs.co.uk.
Consumers visit the site with their egg code (printed on the egg/pack) and discover where their egg was laid and learn about life on the farm, supported with photographs. The website underlines British and local sourcing, delivering consumer confidence.
Where possible we have engaged in tourist board partnerships such as Proudly Supporting South West England and Select Lincolnshire. Plus a host of local competitions such as Cookery Schools, Luxury Hampers and School Art competitions.
Kevin Coles of the BEIS said "The judges felt that Deans Regional Eggs offered innovation and responded to consumer demand for locally produced products, while maintaining the British Lion as an integral part of the brand proposition. A worthy winner."
Bramble Sandwiches were delighted to win the Egg Products Award following a successful World Cup sandwich featuring the Three Lions.
We supply both boiled eggs and mayonnaise to Brambles and Bilsthorpes Rod Nightingale was instrumental to the development of the limited edition pack.
